Hard Spun back on track
Trainer Larry Jones has indicated that Hard Spun just didn’t care for the racing surface at Oaklawn, even noting that his talented 3-year-old had struggled in his morning works.

Top Fair Grounds jock headed to NY
Those that followed Turfway Park early in the 2006 racing season had advance warning of an extremely talented apprentice that would become a household name by year’s end.
And while Julien Leparoux was a near unanimous decision for Champion Apprentice in 2006, avid followers of racing at the Fair Grounds have good reason to believe they may have witnessed a future Eclipse Award apprentice in action this past season. (more…)

Ravel out with injury
Todd Pletcher’s imposing string of Derby prospects was dealt a major blow when Ravel was sidelined with an injured left front leg. The injury has taken the supremely talented son of Fusaichi Pegasus off the Debry trail and out of training for approximately three months, Pletcher confirmed Tuesday night. (more…)
Rebel favorites short on experience
Hard Spun was supposed to be the king of the 3-year-old class this winter in Arkansas, but after a disappointing showing in the Southwest, he has shipped out of a town.
Teuflesberg, who lost a heart-breaker to Circular Quay at Saratoga last summer, led every step of the way in the Southwest, although that effort has failed to earn him much respect heading into today’s Rebel Stakes, the final prep for the Arkansas Derby. (more…)
