Prior to the March 31 Florida Derby, Todd Pletcher instructed Edgar Prado — who picked up the mount with John Velazquez riding in Dubai that day — to try to maneuver Scat Daddy outside of horses as soon as possible.

And Prado followed the intructions masterfully, in the clear before the field reached the first turn, and Scat Daddy remained clear through lane to score the 1 1/4-length victory over runner-up Notional.

With this preference in mind, it will be interesting to see what post position Scat Daddy draws on Wednesday, and what kind of tactics Prado takes during the run beneath the Twin Spires the first time in an attempt to keep Scat Daddy in the clear.

How big of a concern is it that Scat Daddy runs his best when racing outside of horses, knowing that such a trip may not unfold in a field of 20, and that being carried wide into the first turn can be nearly impossible to overcome?
