StablePicks: The Caress (25May07-8Bel)
Lemon Drop Gal has yet to finish worse than second in three career tries sprinting over the Belmont Park turf, and has been pointed to this spot all spring by trainer Jimmy Jerkens, making the 5-year-old the pick in Friday’s feature, the Caress.
While Lemon Drop Gal, at 3-1 in the morning line, is the likely favorite, a huge long shot with a chance for a share could be Ok to Pay, who has limited experience on turf. However, last summer, she scored a 32-1 upset despite a tough trip, and the odds could be similiar this time around.
The two fillies breaking from the inside two posts must also be respected. Mohegan Sky goes out for Linda Rice, who is so dangerous in turf sprints, and Brushed Bayou scored back-to-back wins earlier this spring, and was a solid second to Forest Code here last season.
