Weigelia enters the Jaipur as the current track-record holder for six furlongs on turf at Belmont Park, set last year in 1:07.04, and also as the main speed. Trainer Michael Trombetta suggests the 6-year-old is doing great, and Eddie Castro is back in for the mount, all making for a logical favorite with very few reasons to doubt.

While Eric Donovan has Weigelia as the 9/2 second choice in the morning line, I would be surprised if he doesn’t go off as the favorite come post time at 4:56pm.

But Carnera stands a chance to spring the upset, and at odds in the ballpark of 12-1, gets the nod to do just that.

Carnera took a minor stake at Saratoga last summer, and has been competitive in several graded stakes. While the six-furlong Jaipur distance may be a bit short for him, he figures to be closing late, and should someone keep Weigelia company early on, may set the table for Carnera to rally late for the upset.

Will He Shine is also an interesting option, obviously dependent on whether he handles the grass or not. And both Congo King and Silver Timber will be closing late, although each will have to step up their games.
