RACE 1
WIN – SWAGGER STICK rallied sharply up the inside over the final fence to earn the place last out, and now makes his third start at the meet.
PLACE – SERMON OF LOVE finished just behind the top choice here on Aug. 14 at this distance, but made a wide – and perhaps premature – move around the turn before hanging a bit late.
SHOW – SPY IN THE SKY faced much tougher in the Smithwick last out, so this cast should be more to his liking. Has hit the board in half of his six tries over the jumps.

RACE 2
WIN – FROSTY DIAMOND pressed up the inside from his rail post last out, dropped back around the turn, but then jumped back into contention with a huge move off the turn while eight-wide. Raced greenly through the lane, but shows a nice work since.
PLACE – THATS A GOOD THING just missed at this level earlier in the meet, and now adds blinkers. Logged a slow half-mile at Belmont since that most recent outing, and now ships back up.
SHOW – SOLUTIONIST showed good early speed chasing Saratoga Special runner-up Break Water Edison in his debut before stopping in the stretch. Drop in for a tag a successful angle for Dutrow.

RACE 3
WIN – You know this is a weak group when a Howie Tesher trainee gets the top call. CALLING MY COLORS hung well in her latest, just getting passed in the shadow of the wire. Garcia stays, and will once again be the one to catch.
PLACE – OFCR. SHEILA T REX gets back to dirt for Rice in her second start since January. Not out of the question.
SHOW – MAJESTIC MOON has yet to do anything wrong as she debuts for Duggan, who has won with 5 of 13 starters, including the Victory Ride with Porte Bonheur.

RACE 4
WIN – Long shot special here as AUTO CITY goes turf-to-dirt and shows a bullet move from the gate at Finger Lakes. Won a $25K claimer here last summer.
PLACE – ZIP TO THE CITY will have plenty of pace to close into, and scored when at this level three back with Coa aboard.
SHOW – BLACKFOOT TRAIL pulled off a shocker last summer at 30-1, and although unable to reproduce a similar effort since, might awake on the big class drop.

RACE 5
WIN – Juvenile contest seemingly loaded with potential. As the biggest price of the top three, side with CHARLOTT HUMOR, whose recent sharp gate work was in company with stablemate Sargent Seattle, an impressive debut winner last summer.
PLACE – MAYOR MARV is impossible to discount as Baffert has won with his last six Spa firsters. Work on Aug. 22 was the second fastest, with only Wanderin Boy working quicker.
SHOW – MAJESTIC BLUE debuts for Darley and McLaughlin. Latest work matches with Regal Ransom, who won at first asking here on Monday.

RACE 6
WIN – STREAM OF GOLD has made his last seven starts in graded stakes, so the drop into a $60K claimer is a shade alarming. Has been working well, and McLaughlin is in a race for the trainers title, so this may be a means to that end.
PLACE – MOONSHINE HALL just failed at Woodbine going slightly longer in his last. Bested a good field at Keeneland earlier this spring, and certainly fits nicely with these at a square price.
SHOW – TRUE DANCER didn’t corner well when racing on the outside here earlier in the meet with the rails up, but may be helped by racing inside today along the hedge.

RACE 7
WIN – Tom Bush has struggled this meet, but OUR GOLDEN DREAM seemingly lands in a soft spot to debut with a string of solid works.
PLACE – ZIPOLINA debuts for Linda Rice, so she must be respected. Would have been the top pick if the race was at 5 ½ furlongs.
SHOW – GRACE’S VALENTINE hasn’t shown much in the mornings, but certainly has the breeding to run well at these conditions.

RACE 8
WIN – REWRITE is best over firm turf going one mile, and found neither when finishing third in the Yaddo. Sitting pretty to make amends.
PLACE – NEDJMA is improving for Hushion, and was in close attendance to Rewrite at the finish of the Irish Actress downstate. Capable of turning the tables at a nice price.
SHOW – LATITUDE FORTY took full advantage of a soft turf course to take the Yaddo, and always gives an honest effort.

RACE 9
WIN – EXCESS CAPITAL has finished second in half of his 8 career starts, but has faced the likes of Harlem Rocker, Desert Key and Acai. Ambitiously placed in the Amsterdam last out, should finally earn his diploma on the switch to grass.
PLACE – FORMIDABLE debuts for Jerkens with a typical tab – three consecutive bullet works. Expect he will flash speed, but concedes a ton of experience to the top choice.
SHOW – HE STRUCK IT RICH has found the board in four of six turf tries, and figures to earn another check. Tough to recommend higher as Kimmel is struggling at 1-for-20 this meet.

RACE 10
WIN – Let’s light up the tote in the finale with HE AINT EASY, who finished second in the Pilgrim last fall. Has been trounced in several recent tries, but returns from a layoff with a strong tab.
PLACE – PIAZZA DI SPAGNA showed an uncharacteristic flashy late kick when Dominguez piloted on Belmont Stakes Day, and takes the return call today.
SHOW – SAMMY’S TOY showed better early speed in his latest, and could complete the exotics with UNFLAGGING.
